Aging Rainbow Coalition
To emphasize the CAC Office on Aging’s commitment to serving all older adults, The Aging Rainbow Coalition (ARC) was established in March 2023 in partnership with members of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender plus (LGBT+) community. With the focus of ensuring that LGBT+ older adults have the information and resources they need to live their lives with dignity, ARC brings together members of this population and community partners to expand outreach to, services for, and training around LGBT+ aging-related needs.

HEALTH & HAPPINESS SERIES EVENTS (Spring 2024):
January 30, 2024: Tea on a Tuesday – 1 pm – 3 pm at South Press Coffee Shop (3615 Chapman Hwy, Knoxville, 37920)
Enjoy playing board games and sipping tea with fellow LGBTQIA+ people over the age of 50 with the chance to win door prizes! Participants can enjoy a presentation on Wellness Services provided by the CAC Office on Aging. This event is first-come, first-served, and is free to all attendees. Refreshments will be provided.
February 21, 2024: Sweetheart Trivia – 6 pm – 8 pm at South Press Coffee Shop (3615 Chapman Hwy, Knoxville, 37920)
A fun and exciting event for LGBTQIA+ people over the age of 50! Come play some trivia over your favorite iconic couples with the chance to win door prizes! All participants will have the opportunity to enjoy a brief presentation about mental health by Cherokee Health Springs. This event is first-come, first-served, and free to all attendees. March 19, 2024: March Madness Bingo – 1 pm – 3 pm at South Press Coffee Shop (3615 Chapman Hwy, Knoxville, 37920)
A free community event for 50+ LGBTQIA+ individuals with the chance to win door prizes! Come join us for a fun game of bingo, snacks, community, and a presentation from Legal Aid of East Tennessee on life planning. This event is first-come, first-served, and free to all attendees. April 23, 2024: Sock Hop Dance – 6 pm – 8 pm at South Press Coffee Shop (3615 Chapman Hwy, Knoxville, 37920)
Come dance around with other LGBTQIA+ people over the age of 50 with the chance to win door prizes. Participants can watch a presentation on Caregiving provided by The University of Tennessee College of Nursing. This event is first-come, first-served, and free to all attendees. Refreshments will be provided. RSVP HERE by April 16th.
May 21, 2024: Self Care Luncheon – 1 pm – 3 pm at South Press Coffee Shop (3615 Chapman Hwy, Knoxville, 37920)
Treat yourself! Join us to learn about and do come self-care activities with other LGBTQIA+ people over the age of 50. Participants can watch a presentation on Self Care provided by Knox Pride, and will have the chance to win door prizes. This event is first-come, first-served, and free to all attendees. Refreshments will be provided. RSVP HERE by May 14th.
