Bridge Refugee Services

A non-profit organization that provides services and resources to refugees now living in East Tennessee. Services include case management, programs for school-age children, employment assistance, community connection, and more. Call 865-540-1311.  Website:bridgerefugees.org

Centro Hispano

Knoxville Area Korean Association

Knoxville Gay Men’s Discussion Group

Meets weekly on Monday evenings to discuss topics of interest and relevance to gay men. $1 donation requested when meetings are held in person. Call 865-567-6953. Website: gaygroupknoxville.org

Muslim Community of Knoxville

Provides services for area Muslims as well as services for the community such as education and outreach, social welfare, and food bags. Call 865-637-8172. Website: muslimknoxville.org

The Community of St. Ninian’s

A religious non-profit that provides social opportunities and services to members of the LGBT+ community. Limited financial support may be available for crisis situations, depending on funding availability. Call 865-567-6953. Website: saintninianswell.org

Here at the Office on Aging, we serve all seniors. We recognize that there is not always a community resource that provides people all of the detailed information they need for their specific aging needs. As such, we have put together a list of supplementary websites that can benefit people from various backgrounds. NATIONAL WEBSITE RESOURCES

Association on Aging with Developmental Disabilities provides information and resources for people aging with developmental disabilities as well as for their families, caregivers, and other stakeholders.

National Hispanic Council on Aging works on aging issues as they relate to the Hispanic community.

SAGE is an aging advocacy organization dedicated to the service of LGBT+ older adults.

Diverse Elders Coalition advocates for policies and programs that improve aging in our communities as racially and ethnically diverse people; American Indians and Alaska Natives; and lesbian, gay, bisexual and/or transgender people.

The UN Refugee Agency has information and resources for older people who are refugees.
