Are you age 55+?

The Office on Aging supports 500 volunteers who are older adults looking to give back from their experience and with their free time. These programs are specifically designed for volunteers age 55 and up:

Senior Care Calls – Call a lonely senior once a week to check on them and keep them company by phone. Apply to help here: Standard Volunteer Services Volunteer Application (typeform.com)

Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) – We match older adults (age 55+) who want to volunteer with local needs that match their interests, availability, and area of Knox & Blount counties.

Service opportunities with RSVP include:

  • Drive seniors to doctor appointments
  • Call a lonely senior weekly to chat
  • Serve at a local senior center
  • Visit a senior in hospice care for companionship
  • Help in an office with administrative needs
  • Tech tutors to help a senior one-on-one
  • Teach computer classes with Tech Smart
  • Nature opportunities at Beardsley and Ijams Nature Center
  • Help with our free tax prep service
  • And much more!

Seniors Can Earn Extra Money for Volunteering:

These programs provide the opportunity for older adults (age 55+) to earn extra money by donating their time to help other seniors or help with youth in schools and afterschool programs.

Foster Grandparent Program – Help teachers with students as a “classroom grandparent,” investing in the next generation. Learn more here:
