Personal Response Systems & Reminders

Personal response systems enable seniors to remain independent in their own homes and provide 24-hour contact in case of accidents and emergencies (medical or nonmedical). Help is available at the press of a button usually worn on person (styles vary; some offer buttons on necklace, wristband, or belt clip; all are waterproof). Installation and monthly fee. Systems can be used for 24-hour reassurance as well. Security systems companies also offer personal response systems. Compare price, maintenance, and quality of response.

Some offer a service that provides, at extra cost, reminders about taking medications, going to doctors’ appointments, checking blood sugar, exercising, eating properly, etc. Some of these services use personalized recorded messages, some use 24-hour attendants.
