The Knoxville-Knox County (TN) Office on Aging is part of the Community Action Committee. The Office on Aging administers a wide variety of programs to improve the quality of life for older people, including services to help them remain independent in their own homes for as long as possible. The Office on Aging also provides information for older people, their family members, and professionals who provide care or services for seniors.
Information is provided through programs such as Senior Citizens Information & Referral Service and through publications such as a monthly newsletter, Elder News & Views; the Senior Service Directory; Weekly Update, in the Sunday Knoxville News-Sentinel; and through a speakers bureau that provides speakers on a variety of topics of interest to seniors and caregivers.
Current Office on Aging programs are Affordable Medicine Options for Seniors, Family Caregiver Support Program, Family Friends, Foster Grandparent Program, Gift of Sight, Hearing & Dentures, Grandparents as Parents Program, Knox County CAC Transit, Mobile Affordable Meal Service, Project LIVE, Retired & Senior Volunteer Program, Senior Citizens Information & Referral Service, Senior Companion Program, Senior Nutrition Program/Mobile Meals, and Senior Employment Service.
